Jonathan Douglas career at Brentford seems to be getting closer and closer to the end. Head Coach Marinus Dijkhuizen has made it clear that he doesn’t feel Dougie has a further role to play at the club.

Douglas has played a key role over the last 4 seasons but after our 2-0 win over Stoke on the weekend he has been told his time is up.

Douglas was also not part of the squad to travel up to Luton and Dijkhuizen said in the interview after that his journey at the Bees had come to an end.

“He`s not part of the squad. He’s training separately,” said the manager.

I can completely understand the reason for making him train separately if he is causing problems for other players but otherwise I think it is unfair to completely ban him from a squad where he is so popular.

“We decided with Rasmus and Phil that it`s better to move on, for his future, and for Brentford.”

This is a shame after he scored 8 goals last season that helped us get into the playoff positions. He has started 186 games for us and will no doubt be remembered as a hero.
