There have been many reports on the internet and rumours floating around on twitter that Hull have been given permission to speak to striker Andre Gray. However, last night Matthew Benham said this was not the case.

One of the first rumours that caused panic from Brentford fans was the tweet from TNC Football League.

This was the tweet:

BREAKING: Brentford striker Andre Gray has been given permission to talk to Hull City over a potential transfer.

That tweet was sent at 6:14pm and sparked debate and worry amongst most Bees fans.

A lot of players have been on there way out of Hull this summer and the total received from transfers is reported to be around £25 million. Boss Steve Bruce will be looking to spend some of this and according to The Hull Daily Mail Gray is one of his top targets.

Later on in the evening, Brentford owner Matthew Benham denied this in a tweet.

Benham replied to a tweet asking whether the rumours about us letting a team talk to Gray were true.

The tweet simply said ‘not true’.

We can all take a deep sigh of relief after hearing this news.

I think this is a red herring, this time last year anyone Brucie fancied other premier league managers not as good at recognising talent decided they would like to buy said Bruce fancy. In recent interview on BBC Look North Bruce was keeping quiet about targets, he likes talking so this is for me as a City fan good. Hope you don’t mind me commenting on your pages, good luck for the coming season except when playing Tigers.
