Bees aim for revenge

Brentford travel to Walsall tomorrow hoping to avenge their opening day Capital One cup defeat

The Bees lost 1-0 at the Bescot after letting in an early Ashley Hemmings goal and seeing Jake Reeves sent off in the 25th minute. They dominated spells of the second half despite their man disadvantage but were unable to force an equaliser.

Since then both teams have gathered four points in League One – Walsall winning at Notts County, drawing at Oldham and losing 3-0 at home to Doncaster. They also lost 3-0 to those awful hooped people from Shepherds Bush on Tuesday in the Capital Cup second round.

Uwe Rosler will be hoping that Brentford can build on their thrilling 5-1 battering of Crewe last weekend with his squad further strengthened by the loan additions of Norwich’s Tom Adeymi and Everton’s returning Jake Bidwell.

Beesotted expects Bidwell to slot straight back into the team at left wing-back in the place of the under par Scott Barron but Rosler to otherwise stick with his winning team, meaning that Adeymi will start his Bees career on the bench.

Ironically Adeymi’s signing will have pushed Jake Reeves further down the Bees pecking order so the young midfielder – who has now served his ban – may not even make the matchday squad.

Walsall signed left back Andy Taylor midweek – the former Sheffield United man had spent pre-season with Brentford including the trip to Germany but was not offered a contract at Griffin Park.

Veteran goalkeeper Jimmy Walker is just 12 matches away from breaking Walsall’s league appearance record but is likely to be kept out of the team by David Grof – who has made some howling errors so far this season.
