The Championship season continued with the latest round of matches played during midweek.
Newcastle took over at the top ahead of Norwich, Brighton closed in going up to third. A first Blackburn win was secured with another Rotherham defeat costing Alan Stubbs his job.

Tuesday saw new leaders at the top of the Championship with Newcastle’s two-nil win at Barnsley not only continuing the Tykes’ poor form but making it four-matches in a row won by Rafa Benitez’s side to move to the summit.
With Norwich held to a two-all draw at Fulham this saw the Canaries drop to second a point off top with Brighton moving up third to keep it tight at the top with one-nil win over Wolves at the Amex Stadium keeping Chris Hughton’s side very much in the mix with Walter Zenga’s troubles continuing.
A four-two defeat at Birmingham proved to be Alan Stubbs’ final in charge at Rotherham with his brief spell with the Millers ending, perhaps he would have been better off staying with Hibernian!
Rotherham continue to struggle, as do Blackburn and Nottingham Forest but Rovers’ two-one win at Ewood Park over Forest saw Owen Coyle collect a first league win as boss of the club with Steve Bruce getting his fit win as Aston Villa boss by overseeing a two-one win at Reading thanks to a late winner at the Madejski Stadium.
Neil Warnock maintained his unbeaten start as Cardiff boss but he had to be content with a point against Sheffield Wednesday after the Owls hit back to claim a point from a one-one draw at the Cardiff City Stadium, meaning the Bluebirds remain in the bottom three after dropping back in on Tuesday.
The chance to climb back into the automatic promotion places was missed by Huddersfield after a second defeat in a row was suffered at Preston with this three-one win extending the unbeaten run PNE have been on to five-matches.
