In the hours ahead we’ll know if former Southend ‘keeper Daniel Bentley is able to help Brentford to the three-points at QPR the Bees man is hoping we can achieve in the derby at Loftus Road.

Had things panned out differently he could have been in the QPR goal facing us!

QPR were one of those to have shown an interest in Bentley when he was at Southend but that wasn’t move to come about and he was eventually lured to Griffin Park by Dean Smith in the summer and has firmly established himself as the Bees no.1.

Alex Smithies, who joined QPR from Huddersfield himself, is probably going to be his opposite number tonight not that he’s too concerned by this or the fact he didn’t join the R’s with him quoted by Get West London as saying.

‘I don`t read too much as to who is in the other end in goal obviously, it`s all part of the GKU (goalkeepers union) so there`s no animosity or extra want to prove anything to anybody. I didn`t go to QPR for various reasons and I`m here and I`m happy and I`ll do everything I can to help Brentford win a game.’

He went onto add.

‘Alex Smithies has been around for a long time and ended up going to QPR for his own reasons but I`m here and I`m hoping to get Brentford three points.’

Like I say we’ll know in a few hours what way this match will go, which obviously we’ll hope is our way!
