Five Star Brentford

The Brentford team sent fans home delighted after smashing 5 goals past an awful Preston team. A hat-trick for Scott Hogan along with an own goal and a Harlee Dean special ensured that we picked up the 3 points and continued our excellent home form.

3 goals in about 4 minutes sent the Griffin Park crowd wild and chants of ‘Super Scotty Hogan’ could be heard ringing around the ground. Hogan made it 1-0 in the 34th minute to end a half that was actually quite even. Preston had played some good stuff and if it wasn’t for Dan Bentley making some spectacular saves at point blank range we could have gone behind. A slick Bees move just after the half hour mark allowed Hogan to slot the ball into the back of the net and run to celebrate in from of the Braemar Road fans.

After the interval, Brentford seemed almost unplayable to a dazed Preston side. A well performed training ground routine saw Hogan head Lewis Macleod’s corner into the path of captain Dean and there was only one outcome. The skipper has now opened his account for the season and hopefully we can celebrate many more goals from him.

With 6 minutes left on the clock, 2-0 seemed like final score but Hogan had different plans. Thanks to some ‘kamikaze’ defending as described by Preston boss Grayson, we saw 3 goals in 3 minutes. Hogan sealed his hat-trick in the 87th minute and the game was over.

Hogan was obviously delighted and told the Brentford Website that ‘goals change games and I’m happy to get the goals.’

Hogan, Dean and Bentley were all hugely impressive on Saturday and although at times we did seem a bit tired and slow we proved that we can take our chances and make teams pay when they make mistakes.

Onto Wolves away next Saturday!
