Maxime Colin has been speaking about his thoughts following the loss to Fulham last weekend.

Following the two nil defeat to Fulham at Griffin Park, Colin was speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press conference, and the French defender highlighted how the side need to get over their current difficulty of being consistent for more games in a row – we are of course waiting for back to back wins in the last 13 games.

‘It is our second bad performance at home in a row. We showed a lot of good things to our fans after the Queens Park Rangers game but we seem to have difficulty in playing well two games in a row. We need to train hard to make sure we play two good games in a row. After QPR the team had a lot of confidence. When we win a big game, like we did against QPR last week, we find it difficult to win a second big game. We seem to play well in a big game then have a bad game after. We need to work hard to put in good performances game after game. You can`t get in the top six if you win one game and lose one game.’

With Fulham making the better start in the game and taking the lead before the half time break came, Colin knew that improvement in the second half just hadn’t been enough as they went on to add a second in the game and he was of course disappointed to see us face our first defeat in five against the side.

He also offered no excuses.

‘We weren`t good in the duels tonight. Normally our strength is to be really tight and really push to win the second balls. Tonight I don`t think we won any second balls. We were always late and at this level you can`t win anything if you don`t win the second balls. I don`t know if it was physical but tonight everyone looked like they were a bit tired. If you want to be in the top six then you need to win at home but we can`t do that at the moment. Tonight we are all upset and disappointed but we still have a lot of games left to improve and learn from our mistakes. We have the quality to finish in the top six but everyone needs to work much harder to make sure we do that.’

There was a positive for him that he could pick out of the match though, our youngsters on show in the game, but he wasn’t going to use their inexperience as an excuse – only Harlee Dean and Andreas Bjelland were over 25 – he felt it was a positive overall but they would gain lots from the experience and the need to start brighter and obviously handle difficult moments better, as all players have to go through that.

‘We have 15 days now to prepare for our next game. Every game in the Championship is tough. We need to be strong physically and mentally. If everybody is ready physically then we are a young team and we will win a lot of games. We can press and we can win a lot of second balls. If the team is not 100 per cent then it is difficult to bring back the three points. When you are a young team you have advantages and disadvantages. When you are young you play with more physical skills but when you are older you use more experience. We need to be ready to play three games in a week, to win duels and second balls, and to run a lot. If we want success in the Championship then we need to show this.’
