Bees Welcome Latics

The Bees play host to Wigan Athletic this Saturday and I am sure that the last time we played Wigan remains firmly implanted in the minds of all Brentford fans who were at Griffin Park that day.

Fans going to Griffin Park can expect to see the return of Ryan Woods and hopefully Lewis Macleod who was rested in midweek after picking up a knock at Wolves last Saturday. Will Grigg, who we hope is not on fire tomorrow, could make his first appearance back at Griffin Park after leaving 16 months ago.

Our home form is a frightening prospect for any visiting team after winning 6 of the last 7 at home this season along with there being over 2.5 goals in our last 3 games, this match looks set to be no different with Wigan having lost their last 5 away games in the division.

We have some excellent wide players who will constantly be creating chances which is sure to cause Wigan some problems and once we take the lead, I can’t see Wigan getting back into it. One thing we may need to be careful is Wigan’s counter attacks and to ensure that we don’t become too complacent but to still play with confidence.

To further add to Wigan’s problems, star striker Scott Hogan has scored 14 goals in 17 Championship appearances this year and doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon.

Our impressive recent home form stands us in good stead to secure another 3 points at home and if results go our way tomorrow we could be singing ‘We’re top of the league!’ at St James’ Park in a fortnights times.
