Following today’s clash between Burton Albion and Brentford, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Burton Albion hosted Brentford at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday March 6, with the visitors taking a two nil victory.

The scoring was opened in the second half as Kyle McFadzean was credited with an own goal on the hour mark, but Ollie Watkins tied things up with ten remaining to ensure the three points went back to Griffin Park.

Teams:

Burton:

Bywater, Akins, Naylor, McFadzean, McCrory (Flanagan 41), Davenport, Samuelsen (Sordell 53), Murphy, Allen, Dyer, Boyce.

Substitutes:

Bent, Varney, Buxton, Campbell, Sbarra.

Brentford:

Bentley, Dalsgaard, Egan, Bjelland, Clarke, Woods, Mokotjo (Yennaris 78), Jozefzoon (Canos 72), Sawyers, Watkins, Maupay (Marcondes 45).

Substitutes:

MacLeod, McEachran, Daniels, Mepham.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Tony Harrington blew the final whistle, Burton manager Nigel Clough explained.

‘We were toe to toe with Brentford and there wasn’t a lot in the game and then you score an own goal and they get a soft second one and it changes the complexion of the game. I think it was only really in the last 10 minutes of the game that they really dominated. We caused Brentford a few problems tonight.’

Brentford head coach Dean Smith in his comparative interview explained.

‘It was a hard-earned win and thoroughly deserved I felt. We are playing well at the moment. We don’t think we deserved to lose the last game against Leeds but I think Burton are a much improved team from when we played them earlier in the season so we had to be good today and I thought our control of the football was good. With our first-half superiority we felt we should have been in the lead but we hadn’t really worked their goalkeeper enough to deserve it.’
