Goalscorer Ollie Watkins has reflected on last night’s draw with Derby County.

Having scored our leveller late on in the game to secure a point from the one all draw, Watkins told the Official Site that he felt the team has shown ‘great desire’ across the 90 minutes as he met with the media following the game.

‘We showed great desire to come back and get a point. It was hard out there tonight – Derby did their job well and sat off us – but we did well to come back and get the draw. Conceding early put a lot of pressure on us. We like to pass the ball and try and create things so it was a matter of time before we scored, it`s just a shame it was so late on as if we`d got it earlier in the game I think we`d have gone on to win.’

With youngster Chris Mepham coming on at the half time break, Watkins also had plenty of praise for the centre half and the impact he had on the game.

‘Meps did really well. It`s only his second or third game but he showed great character. He passed the ball well and showed a lot of bravery against a great team; he`s a great young lad and there`s more to come from him.’

With Middlesbrough next up for the side at the weekend, Watkins said the players were looking forward to the tie.

‘It`s going to be tough be we back the ability in our squad. We`ll go to Middlesbrough and try and get the three points.’
