Waterlogged Pitch

After a fantastic Pay What you Can promotion by the club and a terrific response from supporters, Saturday’s game against Stevenage was put on hold after the pitch was deemed unplayable.

From a purely footballing point of view it was the right thing to do but the excitement before the decision was made was palpable both around the club and it’s supporters. With Tranmere losing the evening before Brentford could have guaranteed top spot at Christmas with a win but now find themselves back in the play off positions.

The wider media had caught on to the promotion with even the Evening Standard running an article and would have been the featured game on the BBC’s football league show.

The game is now likely to be rescheduled for a Tuesday evening in the new year with a much smaller crowd expected.

Local pub managers have claimed that takings were hit dramatically with a nought taken off what they could have expected for Saturday’s takings.
