A first half lead could have easily come Brentford’s way with Djuricin, the scorer of the winner against QPR on Friday, denied by Hull ‘keeper McGregor twice with the Scottish international keeping the visitors in the game.

Woods also had a chance for the Bees but his effort, at the end of a good move, wasn’t able to test McGregor this time with his strike wide in a goalless first half.

Hull made the breakthrough at the midway point of the second half with Clucas putting in Robertson (67) who scored at the near post when beating Button with the first real first chance for the visitors.

McGregor was beaten when Kerschbaumer threatened a Brentford equaliser but his 20-yard effort hit the post.

Late on Clucas (86) made sure of the points late on when he secured Hull another win to move them above previously leaders Brighton on goal-difference, who dropped to third below Burnley too.
