Brentford head up to Villa Park on Wednesday evening for a fascinating encounter with Aston Villa. The chance to play at Villa Park will certainly be an experience for the players and the travelling fans will make the most of being able to go to a club of Villa`s stature. However, the size of the ground and the club should not put us off, especially after such a brilliant performance down on the south coast at the weekend.

Villa are preparing for the visit of the Bees after drawing 2-2 with Forest on Sunday. This was a convincing performance despite just drawing and they will be hoping to turn draws into wins. As I said earlier, we are going into the game off the back of a dominating 2-0 victory against Brighton on Saturday. Both teams seem to be finding their rhythm as we head into this game.

Villa`s major threat is of course Ross McCormack who since the 13-14 season has scored more championship goals than any other player. As well as this, McCormack has created 25 goalscoring chances this season alone. Brentford have their own firepower in Scott Hogan who has 10 goals in his last 10 league games.

One thing I have noticed when watching bits of Villa`s games this season is that they struggle against through ball attacks and this suits us perfectly due to us having the likes of Lewis Macleod in midfield who can provide an excellent through ball, as we saw on Saturday. We can create a lot of scoring chances this way and if we take the lead, I would back us to keep it. Villa struggle to hold the lead which was shown on Saturday so I would back us to get back into the game, even if they do score first.

Looking towards each team`s starting X1, Callum Elder is a doubt but Andreas Bjelland did a fine job at the weekend and Rico Henry just had shoulder surgery so will be out for a while. Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini will be assessed after coming off during the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at half-time. Villa hope to have midfielders Mile Jedinak and Aaron Tshibola back it, while Albert Adomah could feature in the squad.

This game along with the atmosphere sets this one up to be extremely interesting and I am looking forward to seeing how we do against a team of Villa`s stature.
