Here, we look at Andre Gray`s revival in the last couple of weeks and how he seems to be have nailed down his spot in starting eleven after seeming he was on the verge of being dropped from the team.

Brentford usually play with a lone striker and if there are 3 or 4 available, that mean there will always be competition and in this case perhaps 2 or 3 weeks ago, Gray seemed low on confidence with Tommy Smith and Nick Proschwitz coming on as substitutes and making a difference. It seemed an inevitability he would be dropped and the Derby game was probably where this was realistically going to happen. Many people`s thoughts were that this was probably the most important game of the season so far and Brentford had to carry a threat. However, the faith placed in him by Warburton warranted him a starting place and he scored a very fine goal and has since then rapidly taken his goal tally to seven for the season, 3 more than any other player with goals against Forrest and Millwall respectively. He has never really looked back after that and I put this down to confidence where the real challenge is for all strikers to keep confidence in their abilities when they are going through a rough patch because nearly all strikers go through these periods but the key is how to overcome them.

I feel that Mark Warburton deserves massive credit for sticking with his signing and that would have given Andre Gray a boost which helped him overcome this rough time. This will also help him in the future as the next time he is enduring this type of barren run, he will have the mental strength to deal with it and have confidence within himself to overcome it and that is largely down to knowing the manager trust you.

Gray has also been helped by the fact that recently his competitors for his place have been largely out of form or injured. Dallas has returned but he seems to be able to be accommodated on the left whereas Proschwitz was ineffective after coming on for Gray against Derby but with other people breathing down his neck, Gray can only improve.

What do you think? Is Gray the best striking option? Would you like to see more of other player?
