Ahead of this weekend’s game against Preston North End, Brentford confirmed the departure of striker Lasse Vibe to Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai FC.

It was known that talks were ongoing between both clubs to bring the 30 year old’s two and a half year stay with us to and end and head coach Dean Smith had admitted in his pre game interviews that negotiations were almost complete.

On Saturday it was confirmed that he had now completed his switch for an undisclosed fee – believed to be in the region of £2million – and having joined from Goteborg in the summer of 2015 he departs with 76 starts to his name, 21 appearances from the bench and a return of 37 goals.

He had missed two months of this campaign with a heel injury and he scored the winner in his final appearance for us in the game against Reading.

Speaking to the Official Site Phil Giles, co-director of football explained.

‘This transfer was something that both Lasse and the Club were keen to pursue during the last Transfer Window. The transfer fee received helps to strengthen the long term financial outlook of the Club and, ultimately, that was deemed more preferably than Lasse’s contract running down and him leaving for nothing at the end of the season. I’d like to thank Lasse for everything he has done at Brentford and wish him well in his new adventure.’
