Brentford worked their socks off to win one nil against a freakish team of giant footballing lumps tonight at Griffin Park.

The decisive goal came in the 15th minute as Charlie Macdonald fired home a superb Bostock cross.

Colchester were a handful throughout the evening – a tall physical side who move the ball around swiftly – but only created a handful of chances which were snuffed out by Polish keeper Roger Chesney.

Full credit to Andy Scott for tonight’s result and a valuable three points earnt against one of the division’s more impressive sides.

There were many plus points for Brentford, who played some fluid passing football on the break including another assured performance from Leon Legge, the re-emergence of the Dickson/Wood partership on the left and some hard graft from striking pair Macdonald and Strevens

Bees – Szczesny, Foster, Balkestein, Legge, Dickson, Bostock (Saunders), Bean (Hunt), O’Connor, Wood, Macdonald (Murphy), Strevens.
