Young defender Tom Field has headed out to Valley Parade for a half season loan spell with League One Bradford City.

The 20 year old met up with his new colleagues on Monday whilst the finalising touches were put on the loan deal, and with that going through yesterday afternoon he is now in line to potentially make is debut for them in the League Cup clash later tonight against Doncaster Rovers.

He will stay with them until January 1.

Having been with us since he was 15, he made his first team debut back in April 2016 against Fulham and he marked the occasion with two assists.

Last season he made 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring his first two competitive goals in the FA Cup third round tie against Eastleigh at Griffin Park.

He has already extended his deal at Brentford until the summer of 2020.

Speaking to the Official Site to discuss the loan spell, head coach Dean Smith explained.

‘Tom is a player that we feel needs to continue his development and to do that he needs to be playing regular football. We had a number of clubs interested in taking Tom on loan but we felt Bradford City, with their fantastic fan base in League One, will give Tom a great opportunity to continue that development and fulfil his potential.’
