Like any player, Brentford’s Jota has aspirations of playing in the Premier League. Everton West Ham and Newcastle are reportedly interested in giving him such an opportunity.

However, as far as Brentford chief executive Mark Devlin is concerned Jota’s future is at Griffin Park.

Devlin told Sky Sports: ‘As far as we are concerned, Jota will be playing his football at Griffin Park next season.’

According to Sky Sports, Jota, who extended his contract for another 12 months when Brentford took up the option held, is valued around the £8m mark.

But, far from holding an interest in selling, the club are actually looking to tie the Spaniard down to an extended deal and the Bees wouldn’t sell unless his asking price was met, risking losing Jota, 25, on a free next summer if needed.

Having returned to Brentford in January, ahead of the scheduling of his 18 month loan at Eibar, Jota was in scintillating form, scoring 12 goals in 27 games.

Such form has brought rumoured interest that doesn’t surprise Devlin but he’s adamant he’ll be back for pre-season along with the other eye-catching Brentford stars.

He said: ‘There will be lots of conjecture about players from all clubs, particularly those that performed well last year. Jota came back into the side in January and was fantastic for the final few months of the season.’ It’s no surprise he’s been catching the eye but Jota and the rest of the squad will be back in pre-season in July.’
