Jonathan Douglas has been crowned the Beesotted Player of the Season in a frankly shambolic poll.

Total votes cast stumbled into double figures as the hairy midfield maestro scooped the biggest prize in football with a majestic three votes.

In joint second place were loanee Jake Bidwell and Purley based plumber Martin Benham.

Other people to attract single votes were Sam Saunders, Buzz Bee, Toumani Diagouraga, Marcus Bean and Bill Benham.

Douglas follows Richard Lee and Charlie Macdonald as recent winners of the prestigious Beesotted award and might recieve a second hand trophy at some point next season. The former Swindon man also won the Supporters Player of the Season award last night as well as trophies from BeesPlayer and the GPG

Marcus Bean was named Community Sports Trust Player of the Year at last night’s Big Red Ball and got a rousing reception from those present. Simon Moore and Leon Legge share the ‘Hottie of the Year’ title.

Uwe Rosler had earlier shortlisted his five best players of the season – Douglas, Bidwell, Lee, Saunders and Clayton Donaldson.

Former Bees present included Paul Gibbs, Bob Booker and Jason Pearcey but Bradley Walsh was unable to make the bash at short notice.
