Harlee Dean is confident in Brentford’s ability to push for the Premier League next season.

Brentford, preparing for the derby with QPR when we’ll be looking for a fourth straight Griffin Park win – having beaten Bristol City, Leeds and Derby in the last three, are ‘capable of pushing for promotion’ according to Dean.

However, in order to have a chance of succeeding in the Championship Dean feels the ‘biggest test’ will be keeping the best players in West London.

Dean told Get West London: ‘I think there’s a side here capable of pushing for promotion. As you know, it’s about keeping people. That will be the biggest test again.’

The loss of Scott Hogan this season was a prime example. Then again with the Irishman making it clear he wanted to leave Brentford with the money on offer there wasn’t much alternative was there?

If Brentford can find consistency, at Griffin Park and on their travels, the Bees will have a chance of achieving what Dean’s hopeful of. Well, as long as the captains wish of keeping the best players also plays out that way.

As for the West London derby with QPR on Saturday Dean went on to say the added motivation of the derby shouldn’t be needed with the Bees’ current run of home form.

Adding: ‘I don’t think you need (a game like this) to keep this team going. Everyone wants to play football. Everyone is enjoying it. I don’t want the season to finish personally.’
