Head coach Lee Carsley and goalkeeper David Button have both given their thoughts following last night’s two nil victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With goals coming from Djuricin and Hofmann in the game, a delighted Carsley is quoted by the Official Site from his post game press conference as saying.

‘I thought the players got what they deserved tonight. It was a good performance all round from start to finish. They worked really hard, closed Wolves down. We looked a real threat in possession. We passed the ball, played with a lot of confidence and it just goes to show how quickly it can change in football. The last two games have been excellent and it`s important now we follow up it on Saturday.’

The biggest pleasure for Carsley was seeing the confidence flowing through the side as we scored in each half to kill the game off.

‘I spoke about it in the dressing room that a lot of the things that the players have done tonight, it was all about them. Their confidence has come back, they moved the ball quickly, and made angles for each other. As soon as they gave the ball away they were aggressive with their pressing and made it difficult for Wolves. There were a lot of plusses from tonight.’

Another positive for the gaffer was in seeing the impact of the substitutes in the game.

‘The pleasing thing was the subs that we`ve made tonight, they`ve all had an impact. We spoke about it pre-match that the team that starts won`t be the one that finishes. It`s good for Hoff that he`s got a goal. With hard work and determination the confidence comes back and I had a feeling it wouldn`t be gone for long because they are good players, I see them day-in, day-out.’

As for Button, in his interview after the game he said that Brentford had now set their standard and we simply had to ensure we reached that in future games.

‘I`ve waited all season for the clean sheet. When you get one of those you always give yourself a chance of winning the game, especially with the attacking quality we`ve got in the team. It was nice and something we can build on.’

With clean sheets being impossible to come by ahead of last night’s game, Button went on to say that he never lost belief but it was about analysing games to see what we could do better, and for him we are showing that improvement now.

‘You have to look beyond it and analyse your performance more. You have to keep a level head and not get yourself too down. It is important but sometimes it`s out of your control. I`m delighted but it hasn`t been playing on my mind too much.’
