West London Sport appeared to get the ball rolling but others are now following suit, rumour has it Brentford could have a fight on our hands to retain Jota this summer.

Everton, West Ham and Newcastle are reportedly showing an interest in Jota, who had returned to Spain for a loan spell at Eibar before the ex-Celta Vigo forward returned to Brentford in January.

Upon his return the Spaniard enjoyed a great spell from January onwards, in 27 appearances Jota, 25, scored 12 goals. However, it was his all round contribution that impressed the most.

Having joined from Celta in 2014, but failing to settle in London, Jota was allowed to return to his homeland in January 2016 but his proposed 18 month loan deal with Eibar was cancelled at the end of 2016 with Brentford unhappy at his lack of playing time.

Brentford triggered a clause in his contract at the end of last season to extend his deal at Griffin Park until 2018, further talks are talking place to further secure his long-term future.

An £8m price tag has been put on Jota but if the interested Premier League sides do not match this Brentford would apparently be prepared to let his contract run to a conclusion, risking losing him on a free, as opposed to selling him below the clubs valuation.

Sky Sports has since followed up these initial reports claiming Sky sources know similar facts.
