I discuss who I think have been the best players for the Bees this month and how there performances have been.
September was a good month for the Bees. We managed to get 6 points from a possible 15 which although it may not sound great, we are currently 10th in the league and have put up some great performances in matches where we were unlucky not to get points. For me there have been 3 outstanding players this month and I will discuss their performances here.
I`ll be honest, before the season started I did expect Douglas to be one of the players who struggled a little bit with the pace and physicality that the championship has but I have been proved wrong and he has been superb for us in midfield. In every game I have been to watch whether we lose or win he is constantly commanding the pitch and supporting the younger players up front. He is one of the older players in the squad but definitely does the most work. He tracks back excellently to help out his defenders and gets forward when needed to give us that extra player in the box. Douglas has also had his fair share of the goals getting 3 in the last month and also providing 2 assists. These goals from Douglas could prove crucial towards the end of the season.
A great young player for Brentford. He has superb pace and skill that outwits most defenders in the league and also has a powerful right foot. I think Pritchard`s young age and his fresh mentality have really helped Brentford this season and has enabled us to get forward much more and always be pressuring the opposition. This season his link up play with Moses on the right and Judge on the left has been amazing to watch. Whether or not Pritchard scores or not he will always be causing problems and for a newly promoted side we need that sort of player who can keep us attacking. Pritchard has got a couple of goals to his name and I hope to see more of the same after what has been a great start for him at Griffin Park.
From what I saw as being a quiet start to the season from Alan Judge, he has really come into his own and is proving to be an excellent player for Brentford. I think he has definitely gained an extra yard of pace from last season which is really helping out on the left hand side. We are seeing him running into the box a lot more and creating many chances. It has been a positive start from the Irish lad. He has picked up a few assists so far and I really hope he can get on the score sheet soon.
Overall, I believe that Jonathan Douglas deserves Best Player for September, not just for his goals and assists but also for his excellent leadership and commitment to the team.
Please comment what you have thought of the team so far? How have we played as a team?
