A three-nil win meant that we most definitely did our part and this win at Griffin Park also meant that we moved above Ipswich on goal-difference to secure a play-off with Middlesbrough.

Wigan started positively and could have taken the lead but Fortune’s run forward saw his effort saved by Button with our ‘keeper also keeping out Bong and when Button was beaten Fortune saw his goal ruled out.

The lead, in slightly fortuitous circumstances, came our way ahead of the half hour mark when Pritchard’s (26) freekick took a deflection off the wall to beat young Wigan ‘keeper Nicholls.

Judge had almost doubled the lead with Jota (46) doing this just a minute into second half with Jota turning provider with 10-miniutes to play as he set up Gray (80) to make it three.

When Cowie brought Judge down in the box a penalty was awarded, Tarkowski stepped up but saw his effort saved by Nicholls, which we might have worried could impact on our goal-difference but it didn’t matter – it’s not often you can ‘afford’ to miss a penalty is it, lets just hope this is out of our system….
