It was tempting to write just one word for this report ‘fuxake!’

Brentford put in another decent performance and managed to throw away two points. Hayes scored his first two goals for Brentford in a performance that was no better than his performance on Tuesday night against Coventry but crucially he put the ball in the back of the net. The first after 10 minutes was a close range whack past the keeper after being fed by Douglas just a couple of yards behind him.

Hartlepool managed to grab an equaliser in what was probably their best spell when a cross hit Harlee Dean and looped over Moore into the net.

Dean was replaced by Legge in the second half apparently to counter the big lump Steve Howard who had some joy holding the ball up for Hartlepool’s midfielders. I say apparently because I never noticed.

Brentford took the lead again through Hayes. A pinpoint cross from Clayton gave Hayes the opportunity to head wide of the keeper and into the net.

It was pretty much all Brentford in the second half, with one good save required from Moore leaping to his left and turning ball past the post with his right hand.

In the last minute of the game Hartlepool were awarded a corner. Craig leapt highest and glanced it into his own net.

Hartlepool weren’t awful but were clearly second best to a Brentford side that weren’t even at their best.

As everyone knows Forshaw is class and showed it again yesterday but for me Douglas was absolutely immense.

Moore; Logan, Dean (sub Legge h/t), Craig, Bidwell; Forshaw (sub Adeyemi 84 mins), Dave, Douglas, Forrester; Donaldson, Hayes (sub Spencer 82 mins)

Subs (not used): Lee, O`Connor, Barron, Dallas
