Brentford secured a first championship win of the season with a comeback win at Blackpool on Tuesday night.

No game is ever a given, and nothing can be assured from them, but this must have been a game that we had earmarked as one to get our season up and running, and so it proved with a 2-1 win.

Thing started well enough for Blackpool when former Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso (17), once so highly rated as an England U21 international, headed the home side into a lead by finishing off Francois Zoko’s cross.

Brentford were level though, and in some style, when Alex Pritchard (37) fired home from 25-yards from a lay off from Moses Odubajo to send the sides into the half time break level at one-one.

The second half was a little over five-minutes old when Stuart Dallas (52) created something out of nothing to win it for the Bees. Donervon Daniels was robbed of the ball at the by-line by Dallas who converted to secure a first three-points of the campaign.

A third almost came but Pritchard wasn’t quite able to get onto the end of Jota’s cross with Blackpool battling hard for something as football bad boy Nile Ranger almost made an impact of his own off the bench.

Just six-yards out and having been played in by Ranger Blackpool were denied an equaliser by David Button save with the Bees ‘keeper keeping out Sergei Zenjov, there was still time for Delfouneso to fire over but we did enough to see out the win.
