Sergi Canos is to be given a chance to impress with Liverpool this summer though under Jurgen Klopp, so any hopes of him returning to Brentford next season would depend on his first-team chances with the Premier League side.

Which, actually could see him debut against West Brom this weekend?

Canos signed off from (what ended up being) a season-long loan with Brentford before returning to Liverpool with the opener in our five-one win at Huddersfield, the winger scored seven-goals in his 38 appearances.

Among these goals was his Goal of the Season winner.

Dean Smith, speaking after the weekend win praised his contribution this season and despite admitting he’s still learning and has areas to work on would welcome him back as he’s done ‘excellently’ for us.

‘We’d like Sergi Canos to come back next season. He has done excellently for us and got a goal to set us on our way. He just has an energy and enthusiasm to play football and he puts smiles on people’s faces. But he is only 19 and still learning the game and still needs to know where to go without the ball at times.’

He’ll look to make his mark with Liverpool in pre-season, or this weekend? With it the Spaniards first aim to make the grade at Anfield, but should it be decided he can have another spell away from the Reds to further his development we’ll look to be at the head of this queue.

Smith added.

‘He has been an absolute pleasure to work with and I’d like to think that we’ve played a part in his development so far. We hope he has a bright future and if there’s an opportunity for him to come back to us we’d love it.’

The 19-year-old former Barcelona academy player has reportedly been encouraged by the amount of youngster given a chance at Liverpool since Klopp arrived and feels he could become the next?
